WAYNESVILLE, N.C., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Waynesville, N.C., man who won a Carolina Cash 5 lottery jackpot worth $118,180 says he didn't realize for almost three weeks he had won.

Wade Haskett did not check his ticket from the Nov. 6 Cash 5 drawing until Nov. 25, when he discovered he won, The Times-New, Henderson, N.C., reported.

Haskett said he plays Carolina Cash 5, as well as Powerball and Mega Millions, but he never expected to win.

"I didn't really expect to win anything," said Haskett. "I figured it was going to be like it usually was, someone else winning it."

Haskett said he and his wife plan to use their winnings to make home improvements, including a new roof and new hardwood floors, to help their adult children, and possibly to take a trip to St. Petersburg, Fla. to visit a son.

"I know it is not a big amount, but it is more than I had," Haskett said. "I am just thankful I won it. It came at a good time."

Haskett and a second winner, Larry Clegg of Biscoe, split a $236,360 jackpot. After taxes were withheld, they each received received $80,364.
