DALLAS, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- A 1928 poster of Disney cartoon character Mickey Mouse sold for more than $100,000 at a Texas auction, the auction house said.

Heritage Auctions said the color poster, an advertisement for a "Mickey Mouse Sound Cartoon," is one of the earliest surviving images of the iconic character, ABC News reported Friday.

WENN.com said the poster sold for $101,575 to an unidentified buyer.

Grey Smith, director of movie poster auctions at Heritage Auctions, described the piece as "an important piece of pop culture treasure."
