Romney merchandise on clearance

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Retailers in Virginia and online are selling off merchandise from Mitt Romney's failed presidential bid at discount prices.

Merchandise bearing the former Republican nominee's name or likeness was shelved in the clearance section of the America! store at Reagan International Airport in Arlington, Va., selling for 75 percent off the original prices, ABC News reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Walmart's online store is offering Romney's books for 35 percent off.

The Romney campaign's official website is still selling merchandise for full price, but is currently offering free shipping.

Strongman to drag truck by ears

TBILISI, Georgia, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- A Georgian strongman said he will attempt a world record by trying to pull an 8-ton truck by cords attached to his ears.

Gvandzhi Mania, head of the Georgian Union of Sporting Achievements and Records, said Lasha Pataraya's record count would increase to seven if his Thursday attempt at Rustavi international airport near Tbilisi is successful, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

Pataraya's previous ear-based records include dragging a 2.35-ton microbus for 135 feet and carrying a 115-pound weight from his ears for 19.9 seconds.

Tampa Bay monkey may have permanent home

SEMINOLE, Fla., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- The rhesus macaque monkey on the loose in Florida's Tampa Bay area for more than a year may have a permanent home at a trapper's facility.

Baryl Martin, spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said the state is likely to sign the monkey, which has been dubbed Cornelius, over to trapper Vernon Yates, who helped with rescue efforts and has been keeping the animal at his wildlife facility in Seminole, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday.

Veterinarian Don Woodman, who has been monitoring the monkey since his capture Oct. 24, said he has been happy with Cornelius' behavior in captivity.

"When I've seen him, he's been really mellow," Woodman said. "Surprisingly mellow."

Kathy Stearns, the zoo's director, said Cornelius may be introduced to a female of the species in an attempt at breeding.

Police: Naked man ran through golf course

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said they arrested a man accused of running nude through a golf course and assaulting a convenience store worker.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a report of a man running nude through a Tarpon Springs golf course and they caught up with him at a 7-Eleven store, where he allegedly assaulted an employee, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday.

But the man fled in a van, sideswiping a patrol car in the process. Deputies managed to stop the vehicle, but the man, who was still nude, fled on foot. Eventually, he was caught by deputies, investigators said.

The man, whose name was not released, is facing charges, including battery and aggravated fleeing to elude, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said they do not know why the man had shed his clothes.
