Police: Manager arrested in coupon fight

GERMANTOWN, Tenn., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Tennessee said they arrested the manager of a discount store after she allegedly attacked a customer who attempted to use a large number of coupons.

Melissa Mozzo-Mart and Jennifer Hill told police they were shopping at the Dollar Tree in Germantown, where a sign was posted saying the store is now accepting coupons, Wednesday when the manager told them they were trying to use too many coupons, ABC News reported Monday.

"We were told we were harassing her [the store manager] to use those coupons and she threatened to call the cops," Hill said.

The women said they attempted to reason with the manager, who was caught on a cellphone recording saying the women "better make like water and get to running."

Hill said she left the store first and watched as Mozzo-Mart collected her coupons. However, before the second woman could leave, she was attacked by the manager, the customers said.

"With her fist balled up that's when she hit me in the eye and the face," Mozzo-Mart said.

The manager, whose name was not released, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor assault.

"We were trying to save a little money," Hill said.

Dollar Tree officials said the incident is being investigated.

'Yolo' voted top German youth term

BERLIN, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The English slang term "Yolo" has been voted the most popular German youth expression of the year by a dictionary maker.

Langenscheidt said "Yolo," short for "You only live once," was chosen unanimously by a six-person panel after online voters compiled a brief list of the year's top youth words, The Local.de reported Monday.

Other words making this year's list were "Yalla," the Arabic word for "hurry," and "Komasutra," a term coined for the act of "attempted sex between two very drunk people."

Army lieutenant breaks back flip record

EL PASO, Texas, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- A U.S. Army lieutenant performed 49 back flips at halftime of a University of Texas-El Paso football game to set a Guinness world record.

Second Lt. Jalyessa Walker, 23, a former cheerleader at the school, performed the feat Saturday during halftime of UTEP's game against Rice University to break the record of 35 back flips set by Miranda Ferguson, 16, a Texas high school cheerleader, the El Paso Times reported Monday.

Walker said the total, which will be a world record if approved by Guinness, was one flip short of her goal.

"I wish I didn't run out of room so I could have done 50," Walker said. "As soon as I hit the concrete, I was starting to get tired and scared because I didn't want to fall."

'Christmas Price' increases $1,168

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- PNC Wealth Management of Pittsburgh said increased bird feed costs were behind the 4.8 percent surge in the 2012 PNC Christmas Price Index.

The index, which each year compiles the cost of the gifts in the classic song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," recorded a $1,168 increase in the cost of Christmas to $25,431.18, a spike PNC attributed to drought conditions boosting the feed costs for large birds.

"The rise of the PNC CPI is larger than expected considering the modest economic growth we've had over the past 12 months," said Jim Dunigan, managing executive of investments for PNC Wealth Management. "Despite some weak spots in the economy, consumer balance sheets are improving along with consumer confidence, which means this may still be a spirited holiday season."
