Antelope escapes in Rhode Island

HOPKINTON, R.I., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Rhode Island officials warned an exotic antelope that escaped from a private collection may look like a large deer, but its flesh could be poisonous to humans.

The Department of Environmental Management said the 500-pound animal, a nilgai antelope, was shot with a tranquilizer dart just before it escaped from the Hopkinton collection and the chemicals from the dart "could cause harm or possibly death to people if flesh from this animal is consumed," The Boston Globe reported Thursday.

HVAC installers find $300k in gold dust

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A California heating, ventilation and air conditioning company said workers found $300,000 worth of gold dust during an installation at an older home.

Steve Ottley of Clark & Rush said he and his partner were conducting an HVAC installation in September at the home in Sacramento when they stumbled upon 12 baby food jars filled with gold dust, KOVR-TV, Sacramento, reported Thursday.

"I still can't believe it today," Ottley said of the discovery. "It's unreal. We kind of just looked at each other and said 'wow'.'"

The gold was given to the homeowners, who asked that their names not be reported.

Clark & Rush said workers conducting an installation in the 1980s discovered about $25,000 worth of gold coins in a home.

Ronaldo's totaled Ferrari up on eBay

MADRID, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A Ferrari totaled by Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has been placed on eBay with a starting bid of $64,420.

The Real Madrid player totaled the car in Britain while playing for Manchester United in January 2009 and the car, which has not received any repairs, has been placed on eBay, thinkSpain reported Thursday.

A brand new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 retails for about $322,100.

Salvation Army seeks quieter bells

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A New Hampshire Salvation Army leader said the charity will seek quieter bells after a business owner complained to police about the noise.

Salvation Army Capt. Deb Coolidge said the group is seeking a quieter "jingle bell" after Portsmouth business owner Sarah Hamilton-Parker complained to police about the noise from the bell ringers, the Portsmouth Herald reported Thursday.

"We will be sensitive," Coolidge said. "Hopefully, that will be less stressful for her."

Coolidge said bell ringers will henceforth be limited to one per kettle.

"I certainly appreciate that," Hamilton-Parker said. "Anything they can do to knock down that sound."

Hamilton-Parker had earlier said the sound of the ringing bells was causing her to "hate Christmas."
