EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Police in New Jersey said a pair of would-be robbers were foiled when a jewelry store owner pulled out a handgun.

East Brunswick, N.J., police said two masked men, one of whom was carrying a black handgun, entered the Harry's Gold store around 3:44 p.m. Tuesday and attempted to make their way into a locked office, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported Wednesday.

Detective Sgt. Kevin Zebro said the store owner brandished his own handgun and the suspects fled the store empty-handed.

Zebro said officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.
