Cheap flights crash airline website

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Airline Norwegian Air Shuttle said its website had to temporarily shut down due to customers rushing to get cheap tickets from Sweden to New York.

The carrier said the tickets, which the airline announced would start at less than $150 Thursday, led to an influx of customers overloading the website's capacity, The Local.se reported Thursday.

"Dear customer, due to extreme demand, we are closing our website for a short time in order to increase capacity and stability," the airline said in a statement.

The airline said Thursday the budget flights to New York, which will begin in May, will be followed by cheap flights to Bangkok.
