The carrier said the tickets, which the airline announced would start at less than $150 Thursday, led to an influx of customers overloading the website's capacity, The Local.se reported Thursday.
"Dear customer, due to extreme demand, we are closing our website for a short time in order to increase capacity and stability," the airline said in a statement.
The airline said Thursday the budget flights to New York, which will begin in May, will be followed by cheap flights to Bangkok.
