ALLENTOWN, Pa., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man who admitted to stealing lobsters to help fund his drug habit was sentenced to 7 1/2 to 25 years in prison.

Charles Shumanis, 47, of Allentown, was sentenced Monday by Judge Douglas Reichley after he pleaded guilty in September to felony counts of robbery of a motor vehicle, escape and two counts of retail theft, The Allentown Morning Call reported Tuesday.

Shumanis admitted in September to stealing lobsters and meat from area grocery stores and carjacking a man following a botched theft attempt. The man said he was selling the lobsters on the street to fund his drug habit.

Reichley recommended Shumanis be placed in the state prison in Chester "in order to deal with the defendant's drug and alcohol and mental health conditions."
