MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- UFO experts said a recent reported sighting in South Carolina is the latest in a long string of mysterious lights in the state's sky.

Peter Davenport, director of the National UFO Reporting Center near Seattle, Wash., said the Sept. 13 sighting in Myrtle Beach, which resulted in several videos posted to YouTube, is the latest in a string of baffling reports of lights in the sky in the area dating back to the 1930s, The Sun News, Myrtle Beach, reported Wednesday.

"This is a mystery," Davenport said of footage from the September sighting. "The lights don't seem to be military flares. They don't behave like it."

The NUFORC's records indicate 59 sightings in the area were recorded in 2012.
