Customers pack open New York Starbucks

NEW YORK, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Many of the customers packing the sole open Starbucks in New York's Midtown said they braved several blocks of Hurricane Sandy weather to reach the store.

Customers at the Starbucks off Times Square said they walked or took town cars several blocks and waited at least 10 minutes -- many as long as a half-hour -- in the packed store to receive their orders Monday, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Bethany Owings, 28, said she bundled up her daughter, Ava, 1 1/2, and walked 10 blocks from Hell's Kitchen with friend Chris Hernandez, 29, when they learned from Facebook that the Starbucks was still open.

"When she said they were open, I was like, 'Pack the baby up. Let's go!'" Hernandez said. "There's nothing else we would've gone out for. This makes the day complete."
