VENICE, Italy, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Organizers of the Venice Marathon said temporary bridges are being installed to offset flooding during the Italian race.

Organizers said high water is expected for Saturday and continue about three days, so temporary bridges are being set up to keep the runners and spectators at Sunday's marathon from ending up wet, ANSA reported Friday.

Weather experts said high water has become an increasing problem in Venice in recent years as heavier rains have fallen on northern Italy.
