PERIGUEUX, France, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- French police said a car going the wrong direction down a one-way road was driven by a student driver with an instructor whose license was suspended.

Police in the town of Perigueux said they stopped the car Tuesday when it was spotted heading the wrong way on a one-way street, and they discovered the student driver was accompanied by an instructor whose license was suspended, Radio France Internationale reported Friday.

The student driver said the instructor had told her to turn the wrong way onto the street.

Police did not disclose whether any citations were issued.
