ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A quartet of retired police officers in Minnesota caught a teenage tip jar thief, who named his partner in the crime, police said.

The retired St. Paul officers -- John Culhane, Beverly Hall, Pat Scott and Cornelius "Butch" Benner -- were dining at the Cheeky Monkey deli last week when a pair of teenagers ran off with the tip jar, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Monday.

Culhane, Hall and the deli's chef chased the boys on foot while Scott tailed them in his car and Benner called 911.

"Once a cop, always a cop, I guess," Scott said.

He said the ex-officers nabbed one of the teenagers, who then gave up the name of his sidekick.

"He needs to give up crime because he's no good at it," Scott said.

The tip jar was recovered with the second teen, police said.
