Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The Indianapolis Zoo announced a baby walrus orphaned off the northern coast of Alaska will soon make the zoo its permanent home. The zoo said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service authorized human intervention after the calf was separated from a group of walruses passing the northern slope of Barrow, Alaska, in July, The Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday. Advertisement The calf, named Pakak, was treated for dehydration and lice at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. The walrus will travel to the Indianapolis Zoo to live permanently after a 30-day quarantine.
