METAIRIE, La., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Police in Louisiana said they arrested a pair of alleged burglars after a friend of a burglary victim overheard them talking about the crime.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said a man overheard Julien Cadis, 17, and Brent Price, 19, talking at a bar Friday about an Oct. 1 burglary that the man suspected to have taken place at the Metairie home of a friend, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported Tuesday.

The sheriff's office said deputies arrived and took the teenagers into custody.

The arrest report said the teenagers confessed to the burglary and property belonging to the victim was discovered in their room at the Days Hotel.

The report said Zoe Sopkins, 19, arrived at the hotel room while deputies were searching. She said she had been staying in the room with the teenagers.

Deputies said they discovered marijuana and scales at the hotel room. All three suspects told deputies a juvenile who visited the hotel room had smoked marijuana, the newspaper said.

Cadis was charged with two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of stolen property worth more than $1,500, drug possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a firearm in connection with drug activity, possession of stolen firearms and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Prince was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of stolen property worth more than $1,500, drug possession with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a firearm in connection with drug activity, possession of a stolen firearm and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
