Skateboarder survives collision with deer

Oct. 3, 2012 at 4:27 PM

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- A Utah skateboarder has become an Internet star thanks to a video that shows him colliding with a deer during a race in Colorado.

Ryan Vitale came out of the crash with nothing worse than bumps, bruises and scrapes, KUTV in Salt Lake City reported. The collision took place during the Buffalo Bill Downhill, a mountain race near Golden.

Another Salt Lake City boarder told the television station Vitale was lucky.

"Going that fast and hitting something that hard out of nowhere, you don't have time to prepare,"he said.

The footage has gone viral on the Internet. Vitale himself was not interested in talking to KUTV on camera.
