SHELBYVILLE, Mich., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan said a man who led authorities on a chase exceeding 100 mph crashed his truck and attempted to hide in a filled hot tub.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office said Jason Wyatt, 28, of Shelbyville, who has four outstanding warrants, pulled over at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday and sped off before a deputy approached his pickup truck, the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Gazette reported Wednesday.

The sheriff's department said Wyatt fled the deputy at speeds exceeding 100 mph before losing control of the truck and leaving the roadway.

The vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest on its side. Deputies said Wyatt climbed through his broken windshield and was then found hiding in a covered hot tub that was running behind a nearby home.

Wyatt was arrested on the outstanding warrants as well as charges of fleeing and eluding police, resisting and obstructing police, driving while license suspended, operating under the influence of drugs and operating a vehicle without valid plates and insurance.
