INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Indiana police said a woman is accused of hitting her ex-boyfriend with a fan and cutting him with a knife because she suspected him of cheating at dominoes.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Rita Chaney, 49, asked Charles Thompson, 50, to leave her apartment early Sunday after she suspected him of faulty scorekeeping in a game of dominoes, The Indianapolis Star reported Monday.

Thompson told police he thought Chaney's temper would cool down if he went to sleep on a couch but, he said, the woman soon struck him in the face with a fan and slashed his hand with a steak knife.

Police arrived at 4:55 a.m. and took Chaney to jail on preliminary felony charges of battery, domestic battery and criminal recklessness.

Thompson's injured hand was bandaged by paramedics and he had a "small swollen mark" on his face, police said.
