N.J. woman turns 108

BOONTON, N.J., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- A New Jersey woman celebrated her 108th birthday in Boonton surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

Ann Osterhoudt, who celebrated her 108th birthday on Friday, is likely the oldest resident of New Jersey, as Melva Mae Cadmus Radcliffe, of Paterson died earlier this month at the age of 111, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported.

Osterhoudt was born in 1904 and has lived her whole life in Boonton.

She and her family say her longevity comes from her genes, as well as her piety and devotion. Osterhoudt prays the rosary every day.

Osterhoudt's daughters, Onnolee Allieri and Donna Bodino, acknowledge their time with their mother is running out.

"I don't think she will be around too much longer," Onnolee said. "She has been the blessing of my life. It has been a huge celebration of a phenomenal life."
