GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- A Norwegian man who had been drinking and fell asleep in the back seat of his car said he woke up to discover two car thieves had driven him to Sweden.

The 50-year-old man, whose name was not released, said he fell asleep after drinking Tuesday night in Oslo and awoke to find two women unloading him from his vehicle in Gothenburg, Sweden, The Local.se reported Friday.

The man contacted police and was allowed to spend the rest of the night at a police station. He said officers were giving him a ride to a train station Wednesday when he spotted his car on the road.

"I was bloody lucky," the man told the Goteborgs-Posten newspaper.

The two women, who police said were suspected to be intoxicated, were arrested and the man's car was returned to him. Police said they recovered what they believe to be stolen goods from the vehicle.
