Italian land artist makes Obama message

VERONA, Italy, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- An Italian land artist said he took his tractor out onto his field to create a message in support of U.S. President Barack Obama.

Dario Gambarin, who used similar methods to create a massive portrait of Obama in 2009, said he did not take any measurements before using his tractor to put the message "Obama for the Earth" on his field near Verona in massive characters that can only be seen by passing aircraft, ANSA reported Tuesday.

The image invokes the Italian word for love -- "ama" -- as part of the president's name, and includes a crescent moon to symbolize the Islamic world. The artist said the collection of words and symbols is designed to support Obama's work for peace and dialogue between nations.
