LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A popular tourist attraction in London, the birthplace of "Where's Waldo," was illuminated in red and white to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary.

New York-based licensing company Classic Media, which bought the property from creator Martin Handford in 2007, lighted up the London Eye, a 442-foot-tall Ferris wheel, Thursday night in the signature red and white of Waldo -- known in Britain as Wally -- and the company said New York's Empire State Building would be lighted up Friday in the same colors, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

The licensing company said the search-and-find book series' 25th anniversary will also be marked this year by a Waldo category on "Jeopardy!" and an appearance at a NASCAR event next month.
