Giraffe flees circus in Italy

IMOLA, Italy, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Italian police said an escaped circus giraffe was on the loose for hours Friday and damaged several cars.

Police said the giraffe escaped Friday in the town of Imola and led officer on an hours-long chase through the town, leaving hoof marks on several cars, the ANSA news agency reported Friday.

Officers said the animal was tranquilized in the fenced parking lot of a grocery store and returned to the circus.

Police said no one was injured during the giraffe's jaunt.
