AUBURNDALE, Fla., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a drunken driving suspect refused to take a sobriety test because he had seen them proven unreliable by the TV series "MythBusters."

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office said Dustan Carpenter, 35, of Auburndale, was pulled over around 11 p.m. Sept. 12 for driving without his headlights on and he told the deputy, who noted the suspect smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech, he had consumed one beer at Applebee's before driving, TCPalm.com reported Wednesday.

However, Carpenter told the deputy he's "not taking no sobriety test, I done seen it on the 'MythBusters.'"

However, TCPalm said it could find no record of the Discovery Channel series, which seeks to confirm or disprove popular myths and urban legends, conducting any tests to determine the accuracy of law enforcement sobriety tests.

Carpenter, who also refused to take a breath test, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
