TYUMEN, Russia, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Police in Russia said a man accused of stealing 1.5 tons of hay allegedly took the haul from a neighbor's field as a makeup gift to his girlfriend.

Investigators in the Tyumen Region said Friday the man allegedly loaded the hay onto his truck after fighting with his girlfriend and took the pilfered hay to her home in the hopes of obtaining forgiveness, RIA Novosti reported Friday.
