CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Police in Calgary, Alberta, credit their "foot work" for the arrest of a western Canadian man for fondling middle-aged women's feet in public.

Beginning January, police got their first of eight complaints from women who said a man approached them in public parking lots asking about their pedicures, the Calgary Sun reported.

The most recent complaint came in late July.

The man told the women, all 45 to 65 years of age, he admired their pedicures and wanted to look at them more closely so he could send his wife for a similar treatment.

Ironically, it was Detective Jim Hands who oversaw the foot case.

He said in one case, the man licked the woman's foot, which means one of the charges is sexual assault. The suspect faces three other counts of assault, but more charges are possible, Hands said.

The detective said it took six months of investigation before the suspect was identified.

"Matters of this complexity obviously involve a lot of foot work, police work and a thorough investigation," Hands said.

Suspect Mateusz Trojanowski, 21, is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
