CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Naval experts said ships appearing in a tribute to veterans at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., were actually Russian warships.
Experts including naval author Norman Polmar said the ships appearing behind retired Adm. John Nathman, a former commander of Fleet Forces Command, during the tribute on the last night of the convention were actually Russian Federation Navy vessels, the Navy Times reported Wednesday.
"The ships are definitely Russian," Polmar said. "There's no question of that in my mind."
A Democratic National Convention Committee said Tuesday he was speaking with officials and workers to try to determine how the mistake was made.
