NOVOSIBIRSK, Russia, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Russia said a drunken man who allegedly refused to pay for a taxi ride bit an officer on the hand and another on the back.

Investigators in the Novosibirsk region said the 21-year-old man, whose name was not released, "was drunk and behaving inappropriately" during his cab ride and police were called when he refused to pay for the ride and threatened violence against the driver, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

Police said the man bit the two officers while they were putting him into a patrol vehicle.

The suspect was charged with petty hooliganism.
