ORANGE CITY, Fla., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said they arrested an 18-year-old man who twice called 911 to report his odd dream was coming true in waking life.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Mark Welch called 911 just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday and told the dispatcher everything that was happening Sunday had appeared in his dream and he wanted "to prove it to everybody.

A deputy was dispatched to Welch's home near Orange City and determined the teenager seemed confused, likely due to the K2 synthetic marijuana he had been smoking earlier in the day. However, the deputy determined Welch did not require medical attention and advised him not to call 911 without a genuine emergency.

However, Welch, whose parents hid his phone to stop him from calling 911 again, went to a neighbor's house about 40 minutes later and again dialed the emergency number.

The sheriff's office said Welch told the dispatcher he was still trying to prove something to his family about his dream.

"The officer told me not to call back," Welch told the dispatcher. "And he said if I called back, then ya'll were going to take me to court. So I'm calling back."

"I have to prove something to my family," he said.

Welch was arrested on a charge of misuse of the 911 system and jailed in lieu of $500 bond.
