Woman arrested four times in 26 hours

EPPING, N.H., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A New Hampshire woman was arrested fours times within 26 hours for refusing to turn down her radio and assaulting her nephew, officials said.

Joyce Coffey, 53, is facing several charges for her three arrests over her blaring rock music and another arrest for allegedly throwing a frying pan at her nephew, Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader reported.

Police were first called to Coffey's home in Epping around 3 p.m. Tuesday after neighbors complained about her loud rock music.

When officers arrived, they gave Coffey a warning and left, but were called back about an hour later for another noise complaint.

The second time police came to her door, Coffey was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct when she refused to turn her music down.

Coffey was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and warned about the music, but officers received another complaint from her neighbors by 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers arrested Coffey again, and she was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and was told she wasn't allowed to play her radio until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"She stated that she would try to keep the peace and not play her music loud," Officer Matt Blonigen wrote in a police report.

But, police received yet another complaint from Coffey's neighbors about her loud music.

Blonigen wrote that when they arrived at the house at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, he could hear AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" blaring from Coffey's house.

Coffey was arrested a third time and charged with disorderly conduct and breach of bail conditions. She was held until an arraignment in the 10th Circuit Court-District Division in Brentwood Wednesday morning.

At the hearing, Coffey was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and was barred her from playing music before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

Police thought they were done with Coffey, until they received a report of domestic disturbance at her home later Wednesday.

Coffey's nephew, Dan Letourneau, 49, told police he was picking up some of his belongings from Coffey's home when she became upset and threw a frying pan at him.

Coffey was arrested for a fourth time for simple assault and breach of bail conditions. Her bail was set at $10,000 cash.
