SUV ends up in backyard pool

PALM SPRINGS NORTH, Fla., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A Florida man said a sport utility vehicle crashed through his backyard fence, killing an iguana, and ended up in his pool.

Alex Ferrer of Palm Springs North said the vehicle crashed through his fence Thursday and plunged into his pool, propelling his jet ski across the water, WFOR-TV, Miami, reported Friday.

"She came in pretty fast and she hit it, she sent it flying over there and what stopped her was the wall," Ferrer said.

Police said the driver of the SUV, Sylvia de la Torre, swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that ran through a stop sign and ended up crashing through the fence. She was not seriously injured, police said.

WBFS-TV, Miami, said the SUV ran over an iguana when it crashed through the fence.
