MUNSING, Germany, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Organizers of the German ox-racing championships said 27 people climbed atop the beasts of burden and raced them before a crowd of more than 8,000 spectators.

The 23 men and four women raced their oxen during the weekend in the Bavarian town of Munsing as part of a quadrennial event, The Local.de reported Tuesday.

Der Spiegel said the weekend events also included an ox parade and a ball featuring roasted ox as the main course.
