Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Beloit College releases Mindset List BELOIT, Wis., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Wisconsin's Beloit College released its annual Mindset List for the incoming class, pointing out they have never lived in a world where Richard Nixon was alive. Advertisement The list, an annual project aimed at giving educators an idea of the world the incoming freshman class grew up in, points out the class of 2016 -- mostly born in 1994 -- lived in a world where Richard Nixon, Kurt Cobain and John Wayne Gacy were always dead. The school said the class members have never seen an airline "ticket," are more familiar with Robert De Niro from the "Meet the Parents" series than "The Godfather" series, have likely never owned a bound set of encyclopedias and have seen women run the U.S. State Department for most of their lives. The list also says the students have never experienced a Romper Room, known an NFL team to play in Los Angeles, experienced cable TV without a History channel or had a bag of M&M's with tan candy instead of blue pieces. Advertisement Police: Thief returned unopened beers AKTOBE, Kazakhstan, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Kazakhstan said a man facing theft charges allegedly stole a case of beer from a store and later returned several unopened bottles. Investigators in the Aktobe region said the man allegedly stole a 14-pack of beer from a store Saturday and later returned to leave six unopened bottles he had decided not to drink, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday. Police told CA-News officers arrested a 27-year-old man from an adjacent apartment building Monday in connection with the incident. They said the man, whose name was not released, has a prior theft conviction. Glasses save eyes in accidental shooting EDINBURGH, Scotland, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Doctors said the chairman of Sotheby's Europe was spared eye injuries when birdshot bounced off his thick glasses during a grouse shooting event in Scotland. Family members said Henry Wyndham, 58, sustained 52 lead pellet wounds to his arm, throat and face when he was accidentally shot during the event on the Scottish moor, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday. Wyndham, who was released from the hospital and is recovering in his family's hospital, was spared eye injuries when some of the pellets bounced off his thick glasses. Advertisement A Sotheby's spokeswoman said Wyndham "is currently on track for a full and rapid recovery." Famed snake handler hospitalized with bite BEWDLEY, England, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Officials at a British zoo said a reptile expert famous for his TV appearances was airlifted to a hospital after being bitten by a king cobra. The West Midland Safari Park, near Bewdley, England, said Mark O'Shea, 56, was in stable condition Monday at Worcestershire Royal Hospital after being bitten Sunday by the king cobra, considered one of the world's deadliest snakes, The Sun reported Tuesday. O'Shea, host of "O'Shea's Dangerous Reptiles" on Channel 4, serves as consultant curator of reptiles for the zoo. Bob Lawrence, director of the zoo, said officials are hoping O'Shea will be released from the hospital within the next few days. "It is very, very rare that these things ever happen," he said. "Working with animals like this always carries hazards with it, but we have safety measures in place."
