Beloit College releases Mindset List

BELOIT, Wis., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Wisconsin's Beloit College released its annual Mindset List for the incoming class, pointing out they have never lived in a world where Richard Nixon was alive.

The list, an annual project aimed at giving educators an idea of the world the incoming freshman class grew up in, points out the class of 2016 -- mostly born in 1994 -- lived in a world where Richard Nixon, Kurt Cobain and John Wayne Gacy were always dead.

The school said the class members have never seen an airline "ticket," are more familiar with Robert De Niro from the "Meet the Parents" series than "The Godfather" series, have likely never owned a bound set of encyclopedias and have seen women run the U.S. State Department for most of their lives.

The list also says the students have never experienced a Romper Room, known an NFL team to play in Los Angeles, experienced cable TV without a History channel or had a bag of M&M's with tan candy instead of blue pieces.
