PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A California clown who used an iPad in his routine said he was shocked to learn a friend had stolen the device from the home of the late Steve Jobs.

Kenneth Kahn, 47, who performs for children and tourists as Kenny the Clown, said the iPad was given to him by friend Kariem McFarlin, 35, and he used it to play music during his performances until police seized it and informed him it had been taken from the Apple co-founder's Palo Alto home during a July 17 break-in, the Bay Area News Group reported Friday.

"It would be like getting a football from Joe Montana that was stolen out of his house," Kahn said. "It's bizarre; it's really bizarre."

McFarlin, who allegedly took iPads, iPods, Macs, Tiffany & Co. Jewelry, Jobs' wallet and the late technology guru's driver's license from the home using a spare key he found on the property, was arrested Aug. 2. He was charged with residential burglary and selling stolen property, authorities said, and is due in court Monday.

Kahn said he did not consider his friend to be "any type of menace."

"He's a nice guy who made a horrible, horrible decision. I wish I could ask him: 'What were you thinking?'" Kahn said.
