Mark Gold, owner and chef of the 40-person Eva Restaurant, gives a 5 percent discount to customers willing to check their cellphones at the door, KPCC-FM reported Thursday, in the hope they will relax, better enjoy their meals and actually talk with friends and family in person. We're trying to create an ambiance where you come in and really enjoy the experience and the food and the company," Gold said, adding that nearly half his customers take the offer.
