The Who tickets replaced after 33 years

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Some very patient fans of the rock band The Who in Rhode Island have traded in tickets to a canceled 1979 show for tickets to an upcoming Who concert.

The Who's planned 1979 concert in Providence was canceled after a fatal audience stampede at a Cincinnati show and the ticket holders are now being allowed to trade their unused tickets to the show for passes to a February 2013 concert at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, The Providence Journal reported Wednesday.

At least one fan said trading in the tickets will allow her to see the band for the very first time.

The general manager of the Dunkin' Donuts Center said the 1979 tickets are being donated for an auction to benefit Rhode Island Special Olympics.
