BOCA RATON, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- Florida police caught a pair of alleged robbers through text messages they sent to each other about their crime, officials said.

Adam Bardisa, 19, and Michael Nicholas Russo, 19, have been arrested and charged for robbing two elderly women in a grocery store parking lot in April, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Friday.

One of the women, who were 84 and 96 years old, suffered broken ribs in the incident.

Bardisa was caught when his parents ID'd him to police after seeing surveillance footage on the TV news of him robbing the two victims, the newspaper said.

"Yo how bout my mom just saw me on the news on a scooter robbing 2 old ladies and there opening an investigation...Bro wtf!" read a text sent from Bardisa's phone about a week after the robbery.

Police arrested Bardisa on April 23, the went to work in an effort to track down his getaway driver, and said they easily found after executing a search warrant on Bardisa's phone.

They found not only texts between Bardisa and Russo about the robbery, but also a picture of Bardisa sitting in Russo's gold Cadillac with 34 $20 bills spread out on his lap shortly after the robbery.

"Hurry [expletive] right wen he leaves," Russo texted Bardisa at 2:41 p.m., about 40 minutes before the robbery, the arrest report said.

"I gotta wait a min some dude she knows stopped and is talking to her," Bardisa texted back, about seven minutes later.

Russo was arrested and charged with strong arm robbery, aggravated battery on a person over 65 years of age and accessory after the fact.
