DELTONA, Fla., July 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said two men accused of stealing a $30,000 X-ray machine attempted to sell the item on Craigslist and eBay.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said a representative of Summer Smiles Family Dental in Deltona, Fla., told deputies the panoramic dental X-Ray machine had been left in the clinic's old office awaiting professional movers to bring it to a new location when it was stolen, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Friday.
The representative said she spotted the item for sale on Craigslist and eBay several weeks later and alerted the sheriff's office.
Investigators said deputies posing as buyers contacted Mathew Pare, 25, about examining the machine.
The deputies arrived at the home and were shown the machine by Pare and Matthew Simmons, 26. More deputies entered the home when the serial number of the machine was confirmed and the two men were arrested.
Deputies said Pare works for the company hired to clean out the office after the dental clinic moved out.
