Identical twins join mounted police unit

NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) -- A pair of identical twin sisters in New York are the newest additions to the city's mounted police unit.

Officers Kim and Loren Bove, 34, graduated Wednesday from the Mounted Unit's Remount School of Horsemanship after four months of training to ride their horses through city crowds, the New York Post reported Thursday.

"It's extra special to be able to get into this elite unit with my sister," Kim Bove said. "There is a little extra competition between us, and we want to do better than each other. It gives you a push."

The Bove sisters said they both applied to the mounted unit four years ago and were called to receive the training this year.
