GRAVESEND, England, July 20 (UPI) -- Police in England said a 17-year-old boy was arrested for attempting to snatch the Olympic torch while it was being carried through his town.

Kent police said the torch was passing through Gravesend about 9:55 a.m. Friday when the teenager attempted to grab it from torchbearer Anna Skora, 23, of Poland, The Sun reported Friday.

A police spokeswoman said members of the 70-strong team protecting the torch quickly took the teenager into custody and the procession continued without delay.
