MIAMI, July 18 (UPI) -- A Florida couple said their daughter was born on the side of an interstate highway when they were unable to make it to the hospital in time.
Antov Antonov said he pulled over on southbound Interstate 95 at 4 a.m. Tuesday to help his wife, Oxsana Aksenova, bring newborn Margarita into the world, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.
Antonov called 911 for help and paramedics soon arrived to cut the umbilical cord.
The mother and child were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Miami, where a spokeswoman said they were both doing fine. Baby Margarita weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces.
