BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said they arrested a man after he ran from a Sears store with six pairs of shoes stuffed into his pants.

His female companion also was arrested.

Boynton Beach police said James Lynch, 52, who was being watched on a security camera by a Sears security guard, shoved the shoes -- worth a total $360 -- into his pants around 5 p.m. Wednesday and ran from the store when the guard began to pursue him, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Friday.

Lynch sped away in a car driven by Carol Reynolds, 46, and it was pulled over moments later, police said. The security guard identified the couple as the people from the store.

Lynch was charged with grand retail theft, possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence. Reynolds, who police said was in possession of a crack pipe, was charged with grand retail theft and possession of paraphernalia.
