MARICOPA, Ariz., July 9 (UPI) -- Organizers of a massive water gun fight in Arizona said 3,804 people participated, breaking the previous Guinness World Record.

Will Dunn, the director of Action Alliance Network, said the participants gathered with the water pistols Saturday in Maricopa to break the record of 3,471 participants in a 2011 water gun fight in Thailand, KNXV-TV, Phoenix, reported Monday.

"There are a few opportunities to get in the Guinness Book of World Records," Dunn said. "Families will remember this for a lifetime."

Dunn said documentation has been submitted to Guinness, which has not yet verified the record.
