PORTLAND, Ore., June 8 (UPI) -- Police in Oregon said a woman was arrested on a trespassing count when she was found to have been smuggled into an apartment complex in a suitcase.
Portland police said workers at the 333 Oak Apartments had been suspicious of the pink suitcase resident Curtis Lowe, 52, had been rolling in and out of his apartment, but it remained a mystery until Monday, when police received a tip about a woman being kidnapped and carried in a suitcase, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Friday.
Officers searched Lowe's apartment and discovered the suitcase and Kola McGrath, 50, hiding in the closet.
McGrath told police she hadn't been kidnapped and Lowe was using the suitcase to smuggle her into the complex because she had been banned in April 2011 for breaking a fire extinguisher case during an argument.
McGrath was arrested on a trespassing charge.
