Bank robbery suspect caught on city bus

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 30 (UPI) -- Police in Massachusetts said a bank robbery suspect who used public transportation to make his getaway was arrested with the help of a GPS device.

Cambridge police said Scott Kellerer, 46, who allegedly used a note demanding money to rob the Cambridge Savings Bank in Inman Square at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, was arrested 8 minutes later on a Route 91 bus in Somerville when officers used a GPS device a teller hid among the stolen cash to track his movements, the Boston Herald reported Wednesday.

Police said Kellerer had the stolen $3,600 in his pocket, along with the GPS device.

"It's a high-risk crime, and without a doubt new technology has greatly increased the chances that bank robbers will be caught," said Special Agent Greg Comcowich, spokesman for the FBI's Boston office.
