TOKYO, May 25 (UPI) -- A runaway penguin that spent more than two months evading capture in Tokyo was seized upon venturing onto a riverbank.

Officials with Tokyo Sea Life Park said the Humboldt penguin was on the loose for 82 days prior to its Thursday capture, Britain's Guardian reported Friday.

Zoo officials said the penguin, which appeared to be unharmed, managed to maintain a healthy weight during its time on the loose.

"Looks like it's been living quite happily in the middle of Tokyo Bay," said Kazuhiro Sakamoto, the park's deputy director. "We are relieved to see the penguin come back alive."
