Plainfield Fire Department Deputy Chief Jon Stratton said the dog, Payton, started barking around 11:45 p.m. Thursday and woke up the mother and two children, who were able to escape the house unharmed, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported Friday. Advertisement "The homeowner said they got woke up by the dog, that's what woke them up to get them out of the house," Stratton said. The deputy chief estimated the cost of the damage to the house at between $350,000 and $400,000.
