Harry Truman's newspaper bill paid

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 24 (UPI) -- A Harry S. Truman impersonator paid the 33rd U.S. president's outstanding $56.63 newspaper bill at a ceremony in Kansas.

The impersonator, from the Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Mo., visited a Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, Kan., Wednesday to take care of the 77-year-old debt with George Lund, who worked as a paperboy in Truman's Independence, Mo., neighborhood in the 1930s and now lives at the community, WSHB-TV, Kansas City, Mo., reported Thursday.

The 300 residents of the retirement community also marked the occasion by singing Truman's presidential campaign song, "I'm Just Wild About Harry," swapping stories about life during the "Truman years" and participating in a Truman look-alike contest.
