GREAT FALLS, Mont., May 19 (UPI) -- A former Montana rancher and carpenter has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest clown.

Floyd Creekmore, who still performs as Creeky the Clown at the age of 95, told the Voice of America he got his training from clowns when the circus came through town.

"Barnum and Bailey Circus come through Great Falls and most of the kids would go up to the circus grounds and they could get little jobs and they'd work for a ticket to get into the circus," he said. "I went and found the clowns and I got a lot of pointers from the clowns."

Creekmore says he would have run off to join the circus if he had the opportunity. Instead, he worked as a ranch hand, ran his own ranch and became a carpenter.

When he retired in 1981, he joined Shriners International. The group, which helps sick children, runs its own circuses and Creekmore got a chance to tour the northwestern states.

When the circus comes to town, Creekmore still puts on his makeup, wig and oversize shoes.
